PRACTICAL GUIDE

Assets and GPS

Register equipment, connect trackers, view live positions, replay trips and draw geofences on the map.

STEP 01

Create or import an asset register

Add equipment individually or validate a spreadsheet before creating and updating a larger register.

  1. 1

Open Assets to add one item, or import the coded site register first so asset rows can be matched to the correct location.

  2. 2

Upload the CSV, correct any row-level validation messages, and review the create-versus-update preview before confirming the import. Export register downloads the current data in the same reusable format.

  3. 3

Import assets with their number, name, category, status and optional site code, then generate and test the QR labels before attaching them in the field.

STEP 02

Connect a compatible GPS device

The unique provider or device identifier prevents positions from being assigned to the wrong asset.

  1. 1

Open GPS Tracking, register the device identifier and give the tracker a recognisable name.

  2. 2

Link the device to the matching asset and configure the supported provider to send positions to PreStartPilot. For managed Teltonika hardware, use the exact IMEI and the Traccar / Teltonika gateway option.

  3. 3

Confirm a recent timestamp appears on the live fleet map before relying on alerts or route history.

STEP 03

Draw a circular geofence

A map-drawn circle makes a site boundary easier to understand and adjust.

  1. 1

Open GPS Tracking and choose Geofences, then select Create geofence.

  2. 2

Move the map to the site, click the centre point and drag the radius handle to cover the intended area.

  3. 3

Name and save the geofence, then review entry and exit events after a tracked asset crosses the boundary.
